Sublimation printing on polyester T-shirts
Sublimation turns special inks into gas under heat so they dye the polyester fibres themselves. Because the colour becomes part of the fabric, the print never cracks or peels, and it can cover the entire garment edge to edge.

How sublimation printing works
- 1
Design and print
The design is printed in mirror image onto sublimation paper.
- 2
Heat press
Paper and fabric are pressed at around 200 °C so the ink turns to gas and dyes the fibres.
- 3
Cut and sew
For all-over designs, printed panels are cut and stitched into the finished garment.
Best for
- Sports and team jerseys
- Marathon and cyclothon T-shirts
- All-over patterns and gradients
- Sponsor-heavy event kits
Good to know
- Works only on light-coloured polyester
- Not possible on cotton
- All-over designs need cut-and-sew production time
Why sublimation needs polyester
Sublimation inks turn to gas under heat and bond only with polyester fibres. On cotton they wash out, so we use DTF there instead.
All-over and sports jersey prints
Because the whole garment can be printed edge to edge, sublimation is ideal for team jerseys, marathon tees and sponsor-heavy kits.
Cost and minimums
Sublimation starts at 10 pieces. Full all-over designs need cut-and-sew production, which adds a few days to the timeline.
Sublimation printing: common questions
Can sublimation be done on cotton T-shirts?
No. Sublimation dyes bond only with polyester. For cotton, we recommend DTF or screen printing.
Will a sublimated jersey fade?
No. The ink becomes part of the fibre, so it does not crack, peel or wash out.
Can each jersey have a player name and number?
Yes. Names and numbers are built into each design file at no extra setup.
